625.0. "nsr.res suddenly almost empty" by SWETSC::WESTERBACK (Panta rei) Fri Apr 25 1997 03:20
    We had a strange thing happen tonight:

    After a reboot, which seemed to go wrong somehow, because we ended up
    with "the blue screen of death" this morning, almost all configuration
    data was lost from Networker. No license, no clients, no pools etc.
    Indexes were there, and volumes. I checked around and found nsr.res
    which sounded like it might hold this info. Luckily it was possible
    to start a recover session, even without license, and I could see
    in the index that nsr.res was a lot bigger at last backup then it was
    right now on disk. So after a recover of this file and a restart of
    Networker, all seems OK.

    But how could this info just disappear? Any ideas?

Maybe something hit nsrd when it was starting up...
very hard to guess, it could be all sorts of things.
Please check out any patches for 4.3 on intel as well.
The interesting part is that the reboot went bad somehow....
hopefully it won't happen again but please check if there
are hardware issues. You might want to keep a copy of the
nsr res directory on a floppy in case this happens again.
