|  |

    I also get errors performing doconfig. My error ends up with

    Error: Undefined:
    vm_page_free_swap
    *** Exit 1 (ignored)
    chmod 755 a.out
    chmod: a.out No such file or directory
    *** Exit 4
    Stop.

    If need be I can send a full listing as in .0.

    One thing to note, when doing a uname -r -v I get V4.0 564 not
    V4.0B 564 as describes in the DUV40BNetWorker-BL5ER.txt file. I am
    sure I am running DUNIX 4.0b.

    This is happening on both test servers.

    it looks like I jumped the gun in .1.

| 607.3 | still broke !! | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | david nield | Wed Apr 23 1997 01:18 | 10 |
| | I have read note 513 and the note in the Digital UNIX conference. The error
message I get is NOT the same as those seen before. I copied the kit from
ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/Digital_UNIX/v4.0b yesterday so it should
be the most up to date. The only other patch I have applied is the dop
security patch (Patch ID: OSF410DX-400006).
Anyone else out there having this problem ?

Dave, you stated:

however in note .0 you state..
   I have downloaded the patch DUV40BNetworker-BL5ER so that I can install
   V4.2C of Networker. Copied the patch files and then tried a doconfig : here
   is what happened: .....
DUV40BNetworker-BL5ER is not the same as DUV40BNetworker-BL5ER-1, if you really
have the "-1" release of the patches, then we may have to look into this a bit
more. Was the note in .0 simply a "typo" or are you really trying to use the old
patch kit?
If it was a typo, I would suggest backing out the security patch and trying
to install just the BL5ER-1 patch first.
Also it appears that you did not install the new advfs.mod file -- are you
really running a version of DU V4.0B without OSFADVFSBIN410 installed?
Perhaps you should try replacing the advfs.mod file, and just rebuilding your
kernel before backing out the security patch.

| 607.5 | definietly install advfs.mod | DECWET::SDY | Look out!!..Support Rookie sez... | Wed Apr 23 1997 19:36 | 7 |
|  | Dave,
   just took a look at your system census -- you have OSFADVFSBIN410 installed
so you definitly need to install patch 70.01, which is the advfs.mod file. It's
supplied with BL5ER-1.

| 607.6 | fixed now - thanks | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | david nield | Thu Apr 24 1997 02:29 | 11 |
|  | Hi Steve,
              Thanks for your patience - it was my mistake in the end. The
reason I said in note .0 that I had installed the *-BL5ER patch and not the
*-BL5ER-1 is that the readme textfile inside the patch kit is still called
*-BL5ER. I checked my script to apply the patches and suprise suprise I had
not got the line in to copy the advfs.mod file. Kernel builds fine now.
Sorry to waste your time. Next time I'll try to be more thorough.

not at all, it was just confusing -- I didn't answer the .0 because I
thought it was solved via the "bl5er-1" patch.
It's better to ask, while you're working on it, then to bang your head against
the wall, and ultimately take it out on us =)
