Cross posted in eXcursion conf:
Customer tested new PW32 kit under NT4.0 on an Intel- and an AXP PC. He
has two VMS hosts 6.2-1H3 and 5.5-2, Motif 1.2-3 DECnet and no UCX.
He did a vanilla PW32 installation. He never had problems with older PW and
eXcursion versions. I could not reproduce the problem here neither on an Intel-
nor an AXP 4.0 system.
He gets the login box (decw$startlogin) but after login he never gets the
session manager and the the wxserver.exe crashes with a doctor watson message.
If he gets the session manager (decw$session) directly all works fine until he
quits the session. Then wxserver.exe also crashes.
In the decw$sm.log he gets:
Error -1 calling XSMEImpersonateUser
XIO: fatal IO error 65535 on X server "WSA8:"
after 1224 requests (1221 known processed) with 15 events remaining.
Xlib io erro
error detected: non-translatable vms error code: 0x20EC
%system-f-linkdiscon, network partner disconnected logical link
I also have a trap file from the try through the login box but I don't know if
there is that much information in it:
CRASHY::DISK$USER2:[000000.PUBLIC.EXCURSION]38852_TRAP_BALZ.TRP (48.330)
I hope to get some hints here. Otherwise what additional information is needed
to elevate the problem.
Thanks

Does your trap file reproduce the crash ?
This problem sounds similar to qar 507 entered by me the other day.
I labeled that qar "medium" since for me it only occurred during
quitting a cde session. If you believe the problem happens during
startup of (any kind of) excursion session, then clearly the qar needs
to be higher priority.

I can reproduce the problem here from my PW32 client to my Motif 1.2-4 Alpha. I
also went to the customer with my machine. We now have a matrix where it works
or not...
We also have IRIS traces and a TRAP file from my configuration. With all this I
opened an IPMT...thanks so far...

The interpretation of the matrix is not very clear. On
one side we could say that it has to be a problem with
PW32 since it works with TCPIP/excurs3.0 but on the
other hand it works with DECnet/excur3.0 at our office
to the particular VAX host...
