> Windows 95 PC with Digitals PPP.
I don't know if it is supported but if you want to do a
DECnet connection over PPP you will probably have to
install DIGITALs PPP on the NT box as well as on the
client PC. I suspect that the PPP that comes with
Windows NT does not support DECnet over PPP just becasue
	DECnet is installed.
If there is not an overriding reson to use DECnet, you
might want to try NetBEUI since Windows NT and Windows
95 both know how to do NetBEUI over PPP.

| 205.2 | Ras and Digital's PPP please help !!!! | UTRTSC::ANBEEK |  | Fri Apr 04 1997 10:01 | 17 |
| | According to the documention which comes with this kit, Digital's PPP
can be installed on a WIndows NT Server. I have followd the release
notes and the installtion guide, but still it is not possible to use
Windows 95 Dial-up adapter with Digital's PPP to connect to a standard
Windows V4.0 server with decnet. It connects for 1 minute and then
disconnect. As a customer wants this feature, should I escalated this
    with a IPMT case ?
Or is there someone who has ever seen this working and if so can you
    help ?

    Best regards,

    Cees Anbeek

P.S. With this option it's possible to keep this customer on to
Pathworks. When this feature is not working as descripted, he is moving
onto a complete microsoft platform, so please help !!!!

| | PATHWORKS 32 does NOT provide a PPP implementation for Windows NT,
it's Windows 95 only. And as John pointed out, Microsoft's PPP does
not support DECnet. So you cannot do DECnet over PPP from Windows 95
to Windows NT.

You can't do Dial-Up DECnet directly to the NT box but you
could do it to a terminal server that can do DECnet over
PPP and get to the NT box that way.

Please be sure to read note 208 before accepting this at face value.
The above paragraph is what some (including myself) were lead to
believe based on some documentation etc, but actually some ISDN
equipment is required, from what I now understand.
