OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
Describe the architecture of LinkWorks V3
Install and set up the LinkWorks server and client platforms
Perform the configuration tasks required to set up the LinkWorks user
environment for a company's employees
Perform first level customization in relation to the integration of new
applications
Understand the basics of the solution development techniques within LinkWorks
such as APO plugs and Class programming
Understand and use LinkWorks' connection to external mail
Use LinkWorks to build an environment suitable for demonstration purposes
Understand the basics of TDF tuning and tooling
Understand the basics of database tuning
DESCRIPTION
The LinkWorks V3 Implementation and Support course is a lecture/lab course designed to
teach the various audiences how to install, customize and perform
administrative tasks in LinkWorks. This course material covers the PC/Windows client, and
the Digital UNIX 3.x server combined with an ORACLE database.
Please note that LinkWorks runs on platforms other than listed above. Although these
platforms are currently not covered in this course, it is possible to request
for extensions, provided that these extensions are judged to be feasible by the person who
is responsible for the delivery of the course. On request the course can
cover NT server with SQL database or VMS server with Oracle database.

PREREQUISITES
To successfully complete this course, you should have:
a basic understanding of client/server technology
a basic understanding of object-oriented technology
knowledge of the client and server operating systems covered in the course to
system management level
a basic understanding of how the networking software (either DECnet or TCP/IP)
is set up on the client and server platforms covered in the
course
database basic installation and set up.
