| Well seeing as how I have to wait for Christmas before my son and I can
open a slew of games I decided to go back to Doom and play it in a
tougher mode. I'm in They Flesh Consumed (E4M6)...I've finally managed
to get all 3 of the keys after 3 days of frustration but now I'm up
against the large rocket shooting demon and am trapped. Anyone out
there have any pointers as to how to get through this level?

If you stand at the top of the steps facing him, you can shoot rockets at him
but he cannot shoot you. If you need more rockets, there are some there - but
you need to get them quickly and then get back to the top of the steps.

| I'll have to search around for the stairs you mentioned. I've just
gotten the red key and have been trying to take pot shots at him at
from the corner but sometimes the rockets will hit the wall behind
me and knock down my health. I've gotten this type of monster in one
of the previous levels (where it's just you and him) by hiding in a
corner and using the shotgun (believe it or not)...only takes something
like 75 hits and lots of time.....

There is also a way of getting rid of the Cyberdemon by not
even firing a shot...

Ugh, reticles... Last thing I need is bad reticles, but hey
isn't that what we get now??? Outside vendors, gotta love'em!

Anyway...
Possible spoiler for Destroying the Cyberdemon...
There is a teleporter which will drop you right on top of
him, killing him instantly.
I believe the teleporter is located to the left side of the
level where you have two Barons behind a low partition.
There is a teleporter near there. There is a secret door
directly to the left of the teleporter. Taking this secret
door will put you behind the teleporter which should drop
you on top of the Cyberdemon.

Without reading the spoiler, I guess that the answer could well be the
same as for Mission 2, did you pass that one by shootling him, or...

Oops, I may be thinking of the wrong level then. Is E4M6
the one where the Cyberdemon is behind a low wall which
keeps him from walking around?
I only remember one Cyberdemon in Thy Flesh Consumed and the
Spider Mastermind on the last level...
I'll try warpin' to six tonight to see if I have my bearings
right.

I don't remember 6, but there is one behond a low wall in E4M2 after
you have climbed the stairs to the upper platform near the exit.
So seems likely that you're thinking of the wrong level

| Yup Mike, wrong level.......so last night while I was getting my arse
blasted my son says "hey Dad, give me a shot at him". Of course he
figures it out.....spoiler follows
Turns out that if you jump into the big pit and take the elevator up to
a transporter (its the one that will put you in different places
depending upon which side of the elevator you take, you transport to
the ledge right in front of this guy, turn the corner, run into the
room and grab the invincible globe....then you sit there and blast him
to death, from there its a short walk to the exit......
Have to say that They Flesh Consummed is GREAT! I refuse to go into the
god mode so its taking me a lot longer than the regular Doom but it is
entertaining to say the least.
FYI my son got some game rag and it reviewed some PC games....Quake was
listed for release in "Winter 95" so hopefully by spring...
