    Hi,

I've been doing some history studying and am looking for a few books and
wondered if anybody knows of a way to get them.

    	Orson Pratt's Journal
    	Erastus Snow's Journal
        Millennial Star

Actually I don't even know if these writings were ever even printed into
books, but if they were they are not in print. Our local book store
has a set of Times and Seasons books from the Nauvoo era, so I thought
maybe the Millennial Star was also compiled and put in book form.

If these aren't available as books, is anybody familiar with a way
to get copies of archived stuff in Salt Lake? Is there a way to do it
without literally going there? I saw reference to the Orson Pratt
journal in another book's bibliography as

Pratt, Orson. Journal. Holograph, Church Archives

so it makes me think there is a way to get to it. Any help would be great.

    Thanks,

| The Family History Centers have a set of MicroFiche that are 100 most
frequently checked out books in the center in SLC. I don't know if any
of these books are on it but it is worth a call to your local FHC when
looking for an old book. They may have other books too, since SLC
provides a service of making books available in microform.

    Have a good day

| The SLC public library has the MS; I don't know if they will photocopy portions and send it to you. If you visit SLC you can do that yourself. Allen | |||||

| As mentioned in .2 I did go to my FHC and Salt Lake does have the
Millenial Star on film, and they will send it to the local library for
a while for a fee. As far as the other books, I got Orson Pratt's
Journal (or at least part of it) from my Father-in-law of all places.
The book is "Exodus of Modern Israel" by Orson Pratt and others,
compiled by N.B. Lundwall. It was published by Zion's Printing and
Publishing Co. of Independence, Jackson County, Missouri (no date). It
is O.P.'s daily record of the first Pioneer Company's journey the the
    SL valley.
