Hi,
Can anyone help with this?
A customer has 1 account on v3.0 that the PAT CTN
operation failed on, it got through the MAIN drawer
and started the OWN drawer and then failed with the
following:-
'failed to prepare filecabinet'
He has defined the oa$transfer_space logical to 40,000
He tried again after raising UAF quotas etc. but it
failed again this time we got more errors..
%rms-e-cre, and oa-w-iocopy, and %oa-w-arcfailopen
We then moved the OA$TRANSFER area to a new disk,
changed the UAF details for xfer in/out etc and
defined OA$TRANSFER and OA$LOADUSER to new location.
The new disk has 350,000 blks free.
I got him to run a script that used file$ to calculate
size of account and added in VMS files and the total
for the failing account was 35,000 blks.
Can anyone suggest what I should be looking at next?

| I forgot to say that this account had moved from
machine A to machine B and the failing attempt is from
machine B to machine C. I can't see why this would cause
any probs but you never know:-)
also he has managed to get a small test account to
transfer.

very quickly because we're ~very~ busy !!
... is this a transfer from V2.4? I'm puzzled because of the options
you mention (PAT CTN). From memory isn't this Prepare Account for
Transfer/Cancel Transfer). Sorry if I'm being dumb, but I can't find
these now on our V3.0 system. Are there some old forms lying around on
his/her system?

| Hi Trevor.
Can you ask him to do a couple of things:
a) check the log of the PTN - OA$TRANSFER_{user}.LOG for clues
b) supply the exact text of the message; is it:
"Failed to backup ALL-IN-1 files" (SA$_BCH_FAILED_BCK_A1DIR)
- then we can see where in the code it is coming from.
c) set verify on in SM_PAT.COM to find the error more exactly.
