| | Joanne,

    0) call the CSC
    1) read the documenation
    2) run pre-check
    3) run the CART
    4) deintegrate WPCORP
    5) upgrade to v3.0
    6) obtain NEW versions of Lotus, WPCORP, Resource Scheduler
(the old copies don't work) and install them
    7) upgrade to V3.0A and install TLC 2.0
       (TeamLinks needs this)

Have you done this before? it's an awful lot of work.

    Regards,

    Andrew.D.Wicks

| 4126.2 | Never upgraded to ALL-IN-1 V3.0 yet... | UNYEM::KOROL |  | Tue May 03 1994 13:13 | 23 |
| | Andrew:

I have upgraded ALL-IN-1 2.3 to 2.4 with the integration of Lotus
1-2-3, WordPerfect, and BasisPlus since we have been on 2.4 we have
added the Resource Scheduler. Also, when we upgraded to 2.4 of
ALL-IN-1 we took advantage of the GCP (VAXnotes) and when I tried
upgrading WPSPLUS it caused too many problems so decided it wasn't
worth it (because most users use WordPerfect as their editor).

I will be doing the installation on a development VAX at the customer
site, so we can plan on upgrading their production VAXcluster. The
development VAX does not have BasisPlus and the software development
group really don't use ALL-IN-1 so this will be a pratice installation,
I would still like it to go as smoothly as possible.

I have read the ALL-IN-1 3.0 installation guide, the customer has
purchased the WordPerfect 3.0 Integration Kit. At this point I do not
have to worry about Lotus 1-2-3 for ALL-IN-1, my main concern is
    ALL-IN-1, WordPerfect and Teamlinks.

Any more hints or suggestions is appreciated!

| | joanne,

what other advice are you looking for?

Talk to Chris Chang (@LYF?) who went though a fairly painful V2.4 to V3.0A
upgrade not too long ago. 2.3 to 2.4 was a piece of cake compared to
    this.

| 4126.5 | What are the DNS$SHR.EXE and DNS$RTL.EXE images? | UNYEM::KOROL |  | Thu May 05 1994 16:52 | 27 |
| | Andrew:

You asked, what other advice I was looking for. None really, maybe
someone to hold my hand while upgrading would make me feel much better.
I figured it was going to be a nightmare, I was hoping for a dream.

    I'm doing the upgrade from ALL-IN-1 V2.4 to V3.0 on a development
system, so it's not a matter of life-or-death, but it will be when I do
the upgrade on the customers 'production' system which has more
    integration and more customizations, etc...

You mentioned to call the CSC - your from the CSC - I'm sure that
you gave me all the information I need to get started.

I have read the ALL-IN-1 V3.0 installation guide, I see where it says
to run the CART - you mentioned to run the 'pre-check' is this
something different then the CART? I have reviewed the
pre-installation tasks from the installation guide, it that what you
    meant?

I do have another question - in the installation guide, Chapter 6,
Preparing Your System, # 6.2.1 Installed Images, I do not have 2 of the
images stated in the manual. They are DNS$SHR.EXE and DNS$RTL.EXE, are
they required (the book says they are), if so what are they are where
    do I get them from?

    Joanne

| | joanne,

yes pre-check is a different thing - it's the PC option from Install
and is discussed on Page 6-19

DNS$SHR is a typo it should be DNS$SHARE
are you saying you don't have these images in SYS$SHARE

    $ INSTALL
      INSTALL> CREATE DNS$SHARE /OPEN /SHARED /PROTECTED
      INSTALL> CREATE DNS$RTL /SHARED

if you get stuck just call the 1-800 number we're here 24*7.

I didn't see you say that you were going to V3.0A you just said V3.0
is this what you intend to do.
