3787.0. "SMU - use of author field remotely" by WAYOUT::CLARKE () Thu Jan 20 1994 16:15
A customer is writing his own mail gateway to 3rd party mail applications and
wishes to implement the SMU 'Sent By' functionality. He has asked us the
following;
1.He wishes to identify which field IOS uses to represent the SMU
functionality in the NBS file (ie originator of message, and actual sender).
ALL-IN-1 uses field DAUTHOR to represent this information, so what does DAUTHOR
equate to in the NBS file. He believes that it is using the senders freeform
(mrif$k_freeform) field.
2.Additionaly require complete breakdown of field represented in NBS file
equating to DAUTHOR.(I have found from Stars that the actual sender is carried
from char posistion 31 onwards in DAUTHOR but cannot find length of field).
3.Is there any intention to change to using standard fields such as domain
defined elements so that other mail agents and gateways can retrieve
this information. If the answer to this is no then he would appreciate an
enhancement SPR being raised.
Thanks for any help.
