| 3541.1 | Trace file location | GUIDUK::MCKAY | Down another rat hole... | Thu Nov 18 1993 17:05 | 8 |
|  |     Since I don't know much about ALL-IN-1, I can't interpret the trace I
    created of this situation, but if someone more knowledgable could help,
    the trace file is located at: GUIDUK::DISK$11:[MCKAY.TEMP]A1TRACE.LOG

    If you search for DWC, the errors start to occurr shortly after this
    nickname was added.

    Any/all help is greatly appreciated.

| 3541.2 | SWAG - Sequential Nicknames file? | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Tue Nov 23 1993 18:16 | 6 |
| | I haven't looked at the trace, but is the nicknames file indexed? It's easy
    to go to DCL and edit it, and the, then, sequential file can break things.
    I'm surprised if it would look like that though. Is there anything odd
    about these nicknames? Strange characters, long addresses etc?

| 3541.3 | very simple nicknames used | GUIDUK::MCKAY | Down another rat hole... | Tue Nov 30 1993 00:51 | 14 |
| | The nicknames are quite straight forward, eg nickname TE has the mail
    address Tim Eng. The oanicknames.dat file is an indexed file, there
    has been no attempt to edit this file. The only "non-standard" setup
    is that we use an initialization script to automatically import any new
    VMS mail into All-In-1 upon inital entry into All-In-1. I have seen
    where this script has caused access violations in other areas (eg
    sender/fetcher command procedures failed, until I placed a check for
    IF OA$USER = "POSTMASTER", then don't execute the script).

    Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Paul

| | Since OA$DDS_PRIME is set to 2, I'd guess that the bad block
        address in the FOR loop below might indicate a corrupt DDS
        database? Turning trace on, so that command line input and symbol
        translation occured might be more help, next time.
