|  |     Hi Angie,

    >I am thinking that maybe there is more involved then just deleting and
    >creating a new server since we brought it from another system.
    Did you have ALL-IN-1 IOS version 3.0 installed on the target system,
    prior to copying it ? If not than this could be the cause of your
    problem.

    Set default to OA$LOG and have a look at the OAFC$SERVER_STARTUP.LOG.
    What does this have in it ? My guess is the the RUN command is
    failing perhaps with a UIC type of error message, in any case let us
    know if there are any error messages reported. The other logfiles are
    in SYS$MANAGER and are called OAFC$SERVER_ERROR.LOG and
    OAFC$SERVER.LOG.

    Regards,

    I wonder if this might be problem with the queues ? Why not try and
    start the server in the foreground, and see if that works:

    $ FCS=="$SYS$SYSTEM:OAFC$SERVER.EXE"
    $ FCS OA$DATA_SHARE:CALVIN::"73=".

| 3392.3 | Tried startup log files | TEACH::ANGIE |  | Thu Oct 14 1993 19:22 | 17 |
| | I looked in the various files as suggested. The OAFC$SERVER_ERROR.LOG
    file had nothing in it.

    The OAFC$SERVER.LOG file stated that the STARTUP FOR THE FILE
    CABINET SERVER ..... COMPLETED.

    The OAFC$SERVER_STARTUP.LOG showed no errors. And the process is being
    created without any problems. It is just when you go in to SM MFC MS
    it states the server is stopped, and you can't stop or start it up.

    Any other suggestions would be great.

    I am interested in reply .1 referring to the UIC. ALL-IN-1 V 3.0 has
    never been installed on the system before. What effect does this have
    with UIC's?

|  |     Hi Angie,

    >I am interested in reply .1 referring to the UIC.

    I was just wondering what ownerships you have for the files ? And I
    come back to my original question did you just copy over the ALL-IN-1
    disk over ? If you did not have ALL-IN-1 IOS installed on the target
    system as you have indicated, than you will have problems.

    The reason being that ALL-IN-1 IOS places files in SYS$LIBRARY, these
    routines are required by ALL-IN-1. From what I know there are a number
    of files that are required by the FCS in SYS$LIBRARY (perhaps Bob can
    confirm this).

    It's never a good idea just to copy over ALL-IN-1 from one system to
    another, when you have not had ALL-IN-1 IOS installed on the target
    machine.

    Kevin's suggestion is a good one, let us know what happens.

    Regards,

    Sunil

    PS - Andrew I just thought I would change my personal name, I am sure
    	 you will approve :-) !!!

| 3392.5 | OAFC$SYSMAN identifier ? | IOSG::STANDAGE |  | Fri Oct 15 1993 09:51 | 15 |
|  |
    Angie,

    Hang on....the server starts but the UI says STOPPED ?

    This sounds like a classic case of the user account not having the
    OAFC$SYSMAN identifier.

    Check this too - the ALL-IN-1 manager's account should have it as well
    as any other account accessing the Manage Servers subsystem.

    Kevin.
