Hi,
I am trying to gain as much information as I can to convince my
customer to upgrade to V3.0. They have 18000 users and are hesitant to
upgrade. My question to you is regarding continued support of V2.4.
Does anyone in the CSC have a target date for when we will no longer
support V2.4. I have heard unofficial guidelines such as "we support
only the current version of a product and the previous version". If
this is true, does that mean that when V3.x is released, that V2.4 will
no longer be supported by the CSC?
Thanks,
Jeanne

| 3170.1 | My brief opinion | AIMTEC::ZANIEWSKI_D | Why would CSC specialists need training? | Thu Aug 19 1993 21:48 | 10 |
I believe, the vacationing Mr. Wicks has explained this one in
detail before. This is for the US. Briefly, V2.4 is currently
supported. In the past engineering has discontinued backup
support for versions 2 revs or more back. When engineering
discontinues backup support, the US CSC will move primary support
to best effort shortly thereafter. The definition for "best
effort" is very hazy. This could mean your customer will have to
purchase "per-call" service.

I can't be much more specific on this. The US CSC takes it's
queue from product engineering. My best guess is that version
2.4, which will be 3 revs back (3.0-1, 3.0), will become "best
effort" or unsupported. This is the status of version 2.3 now.
