3104.0. "ALL-IN-1 Config" by WELCLU::WOODWARDA () Wed Aug 04 1993 12:39
My question around ALL-IN-1 configuration goes something like:
In order to spread the load across spindles, what is:
(a) the best, or
(b) the supported
way of moving hot files from OA$DATA_SHARE or OA$LIB? For example, to
move PROFILE.DAT or major .FLB, .FLC, .TXL, etc.
Which files would most benefit a 600+ active user system spread over a
VAX 6000 series cluster? Most usage is mail, with very little WP,
except for longer mail messages. If files are to be moved from
OA$DATA_SHARE, should they go to OA$SITE_DATA_SHARE, for example, or
should you add to the search list for the OA$DATA logical name?
If memory/RAM disks are to be used - at the moment these would be from
the UIS software, which makes use of RAM for read-only files - what is
the best way to make use of them? Add to the search list or change
OA$SITE_DATA_SHARE, say, to use this memory disk as a new device?
What can you do for the .FLB, .FLC, .TXL files? Is it worth moving
these anyway?
Regards
