2538.0. "How to partially rebuild PARTITION..." by IOSG::PYE (Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice) Wed Apr 07 1993 15:28
    Just in case this happens to you....

    I managed to empty all the DIRECTORY fields in the PARTITION file for a
    particular user. Since they had seventeen drawers, I needed some more
    automatic way of getting them back.

    Eventually I hit upon the idea of comparing the CREATED field in the
    PARTITION file with the creation date of the Zmumble subdirectories.

    So I ran a bit of script to list all the PARTITION creation dates into
    a file with TEXT_FILE, sorted it, then used some DCL to F$SEARCH
    through the directories and match them up against each line from the
    previously created list of dates from the PARTITION file, finally
    building a script to repopulate PARTITION.

    Graham

     I was trying to change their SYS$LOGIN directory name to something
    else, and it all went a bit wrong....
