I've got a strange problem about mail share area. When I do an index
on mail share area, I see OA$SHARC & OA$SHARE are opened (with 1 as
indication). Then I use SEL to select OA$SHARE and see the status is
"closed". I type "OP" to open the mail area and get a successfully
open message. Then I select OA$SHARC and see the status is "closed".
I also type "OP" to open it with success. Then I use SEL to go back to
OA$SHARE and found out it is now "closed". It seems that I can only
open 1 shared area. The other one will be closed by ALL-IN-1. Is that
    how the system works ?

Also I changed the write window on OA$SHARE when it is opened. The
system prompt back window has been updated and submit the batch job.
I index the mail area and found out window has not been changed. I
checked the batch job and no error found. Is that possible ? My
ALL-IN-1 version is 2.4. Can anyone help me where should I start to
    fix this problem ?

    William

| 2458.1 | Guess - file protections? | IOSG::SHOVE | Dave Shove -- REO2-G/M6 | Tue Mar 23 1993 18:18 | 12 |
| Well, I don't know much about this stuff, but I do know that you should
be able to have more than one shared aea open.

I'd check the protections of the system files involved
    (OA$DATA:OA$SHARED_DAF_MASTER.DAT and OA$SHARED_DIRECTORY_MASTER.DAT I
    believe.)

They're supposed to have system:rwed protection (amongst others).

Sounds like one or both of them isn't getting updated.

| I found out the reason. It seems the
OA$DATA:OA$SHARED_DAF_MASTER.DAT is corrupted. I use the FDL to
    converted it, then it worked.
