Anyone experience the following strange problem in ALL-IN-1 ?

    Situation:
The disk that ALL-IN-1 DAF index file and ALL-IN-1 mails reside is
corrupted at night and I start to restore from backup the next
afternoon. During that period, new mails were send and received.
    The strange thing is:

Users are able to read and <GOLD> get mails that were send/received
during that period of time. However users are unable to print or
attached those mails. Users will get an error message from ALL-IN-1.
I use SH (show header) to get the physical location of those mails.
But I get a no such file not message when I do a directory using the
address information I get from SH. How can ALL-IN-1 still able let
users to read or input a file that is not exist ?

A few of the users sometimes get an error message "invalid DAF pointer"
    when they send mails

I suspect DAF may need to be repair. Is there a way to repair DAF of a
specific mail area ? Also, is there any solution to clean up the above
    "ghost" mail ?

    Thanks & regards

| Have you analyzed the SDAF ?

If so, what errors (if any) are reported ? Depending on the errors
it may be possible to fix the file (the CSC should have people
skilled in this type of work).

But I get a no such file not message when I do a directory using the
address information I get from SH. How can All-in-1 still able let

Which message are you seeing ?

    		NOSUCHFILE, no such file

    	   or

    		FNF, file not found

The first may indicate corruption of INDEXF.SYS, or the result of
an attempt to use ANAL/DISK not being successful.

    Cheers,

    Iain.

| 2428.3 | ALL-IN-1 support without taking a course in ALL-IN-1 | HGOVC::NGSIUON | Tue Mar 23 1993 17:59 | 7 | |
| Can you tell me where is the "SDAF" file ? Do you mean OA$DAF_xxx ?

The error message is "NOSUCHFILE". In ALL-IN-1 manager, I heard there's a
procedure to check and remove mails without "child" i.e. a mail only
has header but without content. I think I may need to run this
procedure. What's the name of the procedure ?

| 2428.4 | SDAF = "Shared DAF" - history rears its head! | IOSG::SHOVE | Dave Shove -- REO2-G/M6 | Tue Mar 23 1993 18:20 | 7 |
| Yes, he means OA$SHARx:OA$DAF_x.DAT, where x could be A,B,C,D, or E.

By "analyze" I think he means use the command $ANAL/RMS from DCL, to
see if the file has become corrupted as far as the operating system is
    concerned.
