    G'day All,

A customer does regular copies (now does backup/ignore=interlock) of
    SYSUAF.DAT,RIGHTLIST.DAT and NETWORK.DAT. The SYSUAF.DAT is always
open for writing and the customer get the OpenVMS error message

%COPY-E-OPENIN, error opening SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]SYSUAF.DAT;1 as input
-RMS-E-FLK, file currently locked by another user

    A show devic/files sys$system, show the following:

    RAKOFF$SRV73 000000A6 [VMS$COMMON.SYSEXE]SYSUAF.DAT

I have gone through topic number 2107 but that was to do with sending mail.
It was suggested the SYSUAF was open because of a misfeature in 2.3 to do
    with SYSPRV.

Why does the server process have the SYSUAF open all the time ?

    Regards,

    Sunil

| Hi Andrew,

I have just RTFSA !!!! I must have missed that article sorry mate, honest
    guv :-).

Just to round off this topic the article pointed to the fact that the
SYSUAF,RIGHTSLIST and PROXY .dat's are opened and the records cached
    for performance reasons.

Before a backup is done the File servers should be shutdown by doing
the following on each node in the cluster MGT MFC MS.

NOTE: Some product installations (unrelated to ALL-IN-1) may fail
due to these files being open. In these cases, the FCSs must be
    stopped to perform the installations.

    Regards,

    Sunil
