    Being a self-confessed bozo on the finer matters to do with 
    the Communications Control menu within ALL-IN-1 v.3. (or any
    version for that matter!) I have to ask if anyone knows the 
    following:
    
    A customer is using a control document within which contains
    the command se/ed "filespec".  The filespec points to a file
    within [TECHLIB.LIBRARY].  This worked ok.  However, they 
    upgraded their third-party product called Basis-Plus which 
    altered the name of the directory to [TECHLIB.LIBRARY_ENGLISH].
    
    Now, if they use se/ed "filespec", it fails due to the underscore
    in the directory.  If the customer moves the file back to 
    [TECHLIB.LIBRARY], it works OK.
    
    Can anyone suggest why an underscore is not recognised in a  
    control document or any other ideas?

        The communications subsystem was written before VMS version 4.0.
        One might expect problems with things that were illegal in VMS
        version 3.* directory and file specifications.  Are you sure it's
        the underscore and not the directory names being longer than 9
        characters?  An SPR would be appropriate.
