1970.0. "Multiple Mail Areas V2.4" by ODIXIE::HAM () Wed Dec 16 1992 02:00
    On a cluster of 12 8650's, with approximately 5000 users, would there
    be a performance enhancement creating, multiple mail areas with users
    spread evenly across and multiple shared directories across several
    disks, over, a single mail area with multiple shared directories across
    several disks.

    Thanks...

    Bill

|  |     It depends!

    How big is the SDAF at the moment? If it's getting near to half the
    disc size so that it's causing you difficulties convert/FDL'ing it then
    it might be worth more than one DAF.

    How busy is the disc the SDAF it's on? If the disc is having a problem
    with I/O then it would be worth more than one DAF.

    There's no simple answer!

    There are other notes in here about multiple DAFs, also pointers to
    tuning guides which you might weant to look for.

    Graham
