Is there a pointer to instructions (check list) of things one need to
do when converting from a one node ALL-IN-1 2.4 system to a 3900/4000
VAXcluster ALL-IN-1 2.4 system? The installation guide does not address
this situation.

this was recently done at my customer site. as far as ALL-IN-1 went,
it wasn't that big a problem. just had to make sure the NETWORK.DAT
got populated with the cluster alias as location. there were also some
homegrown ALL-IN-1 monitor procedures that had to be changed to deal
with the clsuter alias.
also, i have been told (by an ex-digit) that if you have group
conferencing, then things can be confusing if you turn cluster alias on
after you install gpc.
