Is there any way to restrict a ALL-IN-1 user to read mail only? The user cannot send or file mail. ALL-IN-1 version is V2.4. Thanks, Steven Lau

| I suppose you could do this by taking all the other options off of any
    menu that they could possibly get to. It would be a reasonable amount
    of work I would think. It would probably be cheaper to give them
    VMSMail instead :-)

    Why would you want to do this?

    Who would empty all the junk out of their file cabinet?

| 1233.2 | Use a SCRIPT SCRIPT to filter ? | IOSG::WDAVIES | There can only be one ALL-IN-1 Mail | Thu Aug 13 1992 11:06 | 7 |
| Um, not sure but I think there should be an easier way - IF, ONLY IFF
    you want the user to READ MAIL (not manipulate it)

    Use a SCRIPT SCRIPT to 'JUDGE' the users input, and only allow READ
    and READ NEW ? (I think this could also allow RFD, I etc)

| 1233.3 | Strange request | SHALOT::NICODEM | Avoid traffic; leave work at noon | Thu Aug 13 1992 13:43 | 14 |
| I'm confused by one thing: you say 'the user cannot send or file mail'. The Send part I can understand; other inquiries have come in in the past that wish to limit the sending capabilities of their users (mostly to cut down on mail traffic). But I don't understand the 'file' part. Why wouldn't/shouldn't they be allowed to file? Or maybe there's some- thing else implied here? Are you saying that you want them to be able to Read their mail *and then have it "disappear"*?? In other words, that it would never get filed *at all*?? If so, this is clearly not a good idea. Could you clarify that? Which is it: not being able to RFD, XFD, FM, FA, etc.; or simply not ever being able to have anything in their File Cabinet? F | |||||
