781.0. "Mails to PAPER MAIL and MR-Addressee returns in del.fail.mess." by ZUR01::TOLBA () Tue Jun 02 1992 10:27

Hello,

I have the following customer problem.

Configuration: A1V2.4 English & German
OA$Default_language = English

If a user is sending a mail from the second language (German) which is addressed
to a paper mail addressee and another user over Message Router, the user will
get a postmaster delivery failure report which says:

ALL-IN-1 was unable to deliver your message dated .....
BRIEF - no such ALL-IN-1 Account
Subject of the message was .....

Brief is the German translation for Paper mail.

Even though the user gets a failure report the mail for the paper mail addressee
is printed out normally and the "message router addresse" gets his mail too.

This only happens when mail is sent from the second language (it doesn't matter
whether the second language is German or English) and when at least 1 addressee
will be addressed over the message router.

If message router is not involved it works fine i.e. without receiving any
failure delivery messages.

Does anybody have some ideas what could be causing this problem?

Any suggestions and help are most welcome.

Thanks and regards,
Manuela

Pls find afterwards an example of the original mail as well as of the original
postmaster message.

    Manuela,

I believe that this has been a known problem with ALL-IN-1 since the
dawn of time and is similar to the behaviour that can be seen in
multi-lingual environments with Read Reciepts, Replies, Delivery
Receipts, the "AT" symbol etc etc ...

Basically there isn't a non-text I18N version of PAPER MAIL anywhere that
the Sender/Fetcher can translate into or from. Maybe one day when
ALL-IN-1 uses a 20th century mail system this will be fixed but for the
moment I think it is termed a "restriction"

    Regards,
