I'm sure this is somewhere else, but I could not find it.

I'm wanting to translate the filenames like Zxxxxxx.WPL back to the
original timestamp. Is there anyway to decode this.

    Thanks,
    Darryl

| It is sort of possible, but ...

    1. The current formula changed in V2.3, so if you have old documents
you will need a different formula.

    2. In V3.0 there are now two formulae. The ALL-IN-1 code still uses
the Zmumble formula, but the File Cabinet Server uses a completely
different one that gives rise to filenames beginning with I.

    3. The formula has a limited life span. Today's filenames start with
ZU..., and the letter after the Z changes about every 2 years. In
some future release we will have to come up with another formula.

It's for factors like the above that we have not officially published
the formula, so that no customer writes an application that will break
    when we change it.

If that hasn't put you off ask again I'll mail you the relevant bit of
BLISS code that takes the number of days since Nov 17, 1858 and codes
it as the first 3 characters after the Z. Assuming no-one has done it
before, then you would I think be able to reverse thes characters back
to the day (but not the time).

    Cheers

    Stuart

| Stuart,

You win. I guess I will just look at the creation date. But if you
don't mind, I would still like to look at the code.

    Thanks,
    Darryl MSDSWS::duncan
