186.0. "ALL-IN-1 to UNIX/ULTRIX" by NEMAIL::ROBERTSON () Fri Mar 06 1992 15:11

I have a customer with a large ALL-IN-1 installation running corporate
    wide on VAXes.

The company has a lot of UNIX and ULTRIX work stations.

They would like to be able to send mail between ALL-IN-1 on the VAXes
and UNIX mail on the work stations.

Currently they are doing this as follows:

ALL-IN-1 to Message Router to Mrgate to a WINS account(Wollongong) on
the same VAX- The WINS account translates the message to SMTP and sends
it over TCP/IP to the workstations. The VAX is running DECnet and
    TCP/IP.

    What's wrong with this???

The addressing is "ridiculously complicated" and Wollongong does not
    create the proper return address.

The customer wants to know other options.

He would rather not run a seperate ULTRIX node running Ultrix Mail
Connection but thinks that may be the only alternative so wants to
    know all about it.

Is there a Message router gateway product that does this????

    All ideas welcome!!!

    Thanks.

    Harry
