41.0. "X400 mail address getting corrupted when answering mail" by GIDDAY::SETHI (Man from Downunder) Tue Feb 18 1992 23:21
I have a problem at a customer site involving x.400 mail and the
address getting corrupted in the CC: field.

Tested with /NOCUSTOMIZE made no diffrence.

    Software

    ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4, X400 2.1b and VMS 5.4-3

The following is an outline of the problem.

    3 x400 nodes, Tom, Dick, & Harry

Tom send x400 mail to Dick and copies Harry
Dick replies to Tom and also copies Harry
    - this fails with x400 reporting the CC: to Harry as an invalid address.

    Further information :-

| | Sunil,

Which of Tom, Dick and Harry is in ALL-IN-1 - please?

I think it's Dick because you say Tom sent X.400 Mail.

What does the CC: or TO: field look like in the READ folder before Dick
    typed A for answer

I don't even want to guess without knowing more what is happening
particularly when there's one of those non ALL-IN-1 non-deliveries at the
    bottom.

    Regards,

| 41.2 | Who wants X.400 anyway? :-) | SCOTTC::MARSHALL | Pearl-white, but slightly shop-soiled | Wed Feb 19 1992 18:22 | 15 |
| | Hi,
At a rough guess, this is a cluster alias vs node name problem, or node names
being defined differently in NCP on different nodes (particularly your MRX node
and the ALL-IN-1 node(s)).
What do you mean by "X.400 2.1b"? There is no such DEC product
(to my knowledge). Do you mean MRX, the gateway between Message Router and the
X.400 world?
Also, having "(" as a given name looks very suspect to me. Are you sure that
this (or some other element of the address) is not at fault? The node name
business could just be a red herring...
