3410.0. "Colors change unexpectedly... " by RUNTUF::PELKEY (Kodachrome Junky) Fri Sep 28 1990 15:38
Sorry if this has been covered before, but I went about
2,000 entries and dind't find anyhing related...

    Problem:

Just added a VS2000 to the cluster.

Strange problem,, when IBI Focus is run from this workstation,
    the colors get screwed up.

Yet, should I run focus from my work station (3100) on the
same cluster, I don't have the problem. I've looked through
most of the default settings,,, seems identicle to mine.

Any ideas on something I might have missed..

Is there some set up I can set for the session to avoid this ?

    PS:
I remember seeing this with other applications, specifically VTX, but
I can't remember how I fixed it.... (sigh...) I think Locking
User Features had something to do with the VTX problem, (I changed
a few other things too...) but didn't seem to help this time.

| | I'll bet your 3100 is an 8-plane (256 color) system while your 2000 is a
4-plane (16 color) system. If this is the case, there is no way around the
problem except to use fewer total colors.

| | re: .0, .1
Since the 8-plane GPX for a 3100 is also supported on VS2000's, another
option would be to upgrade the VS2000 to 8-plane, if you happen to have an
8-plane GPX card laying around. (Someone might have upgraded a 3100 to SPX
graphics and removed the GPX, perhaps.)

Bingo!
My 3100 is an eight plane, the vs2000 is a four plane.
I'll check for a card, but I doubt there's around the house.
I'll talk to the user of the workstation, it shoudl be his call from there.
