| | As far as I know, neither DECwindows MAIL nor VMS MAIL truncates files at any
length less than 512 columns, maybe more. But how it is displayed by the
receiver may affect whether or not it appears to be truncated. If it is
in DECwindows MAIL, use the scroll bars or resize the window to see more of it.
Extracting the message to a file is a good way of finding out if MAIL actually
modified the text at all.

| | DECwindows MAIL (at least under VMS 5.1-1 and DECwindows V1) breaks up
large records every 80 characters. It doesn't truncate records greater
than 80 characters, but it does split them across many lines.

| | re. * What I think .0 is getting at is that when reading a Chart ddif
file using mail (which uses the CDA Viewer), the viewer window is
assuming some default size which doesn't correspond to the size of the
Chart (is smaller is this case).

The Viewer has horiontal and vertical scroll bars no? Of course it
would be nice if it sized properly for the ddif file in question. I'd
ask this in the mail conference or the viewer conference.

| | Resizing the DECwindows Read window as large as possible on my screen,
has no effect on the chart. It still only displays the first 2/3's or
3/4's.... Although there is plenty of "white space" to the right
of the chart. The horizontal slider takes up the whole slider region,
so there is no place to slide too. (not sure of the right wording to
use.) The file is actually still intact--I can extract it and view
    it through DECchart.

.3 is correct in his description, although I cannot slide right to
view the rest of the chart. I'll be happy to copy this over to the
appropriate notes conferences: DDIF::CDA_BUGS and ?mail?

If you would like to take a look at it, send me mail and I will forward
the DECchart mail message to you.

Thanks for you help and suggestions,

    Lori
