I couldnt find the answer to this from DIR/TIT=SESSION so...
How does the session manager grab the console messages (on Ultrix)?
Normally they would go to /dev/console , so what is it doing?
And if I dont have a session manager can I redirect the messages to
a "normal" file (eg a file I can edit)?
Thanks,
Chris
PS Where did DECWINDOWS_PROGRAMMING go?

pick an idle xterm or dxterm. Su to root. do a "cat -u /dev/xcons &" All console messages will now appear on that xterm/dxterm. | |||||

I couldnt get this to work. Could you give me a pointer to
documentation on /dev/xcons because I cant find any mention of it
in my doc set.
Thanks,
Chris
