2580.0. "Clock disappears on cluster workstation" by TOOK::R_LANE () Fri Apr 06 1990 16:43
Hi,
My workstation (VAXstation 2000) is running DECwindows V5.3 (VMS V5.3-1) in
a cluster with other similar workstations.
On occasion, including four (4) times just today, the "clock" process
(running DECW$CLOCK) just terminates. Every time this happens on my
workstation, the clock process "dies" on at least one other workstation in
the cluster at almost the same time (within about 30 seconds). It seems as
if some activity on the cluster is causing this to happen.
Using ACCOUNTING, I've found out that the process terminates with the
status code of hexadecimal 28009, which doesn't seem to be a VMS message
code (it translates to %DEBUG-S-NOMSG).
Can anyone help explain what's happening to the clock process?
