| | I hope you've submitted a high-priority QAR against DECwindows for any
change you've found between V1 and V2 that breaks a VMS layered
    product.

One of the major selling-points of VMS is that applications developed
under one version will run without change on future versions, and since
DECwindows is supplied as part of VMS, customers will (rightly) expect
this upward-compatibility to apply to DECwindows too. I found it
irritating in the extreme that the sizes of some of the widgets had
changes between V1 and V2, meaning I had to adjust my UIL. If you've
found a case where something actually breaks (rather than merely looks
ugly) as a result of the upgrade, that is a serious problem.

Just off the top of my head..what about the fact that a new version of VAX
Notes had to be issued. In addition, the LISP developers have said that
LISP V3.0, fully supported under 5.1-1 down to 5.1 (ie. DECwindows V1.0) is
unsupported AT THE MOMENT under DECwindows V2.0. (In fact, it's going to
    require a new release!)
Enuf of that ...Anyone any ideas on the original topic?
