The term WIDGET refers to the combination of an X window, or subwindow, and the semantics associated with it (a human interface abstraction). Menus, text windows, and scroll bars are examples of widgets. A GADGET is a widget without a window. It is a high-performance, reduced-function widget because there is no window associated with it. Gadgets require less memory and run-time overhead than widgets, but are less customizable and more limited in function. -=> Jim <=- | |||||
