| | Use AUTOGEN with feedback if you haven't done so already, then
    check to be sure you have enough GBLPAGES and GBLSECTIONS in sysgen.

RE: .1, sorry, VMS V5.1-1 and DECW 5.1.
RE: .2 Yes, I have run the autogen and GBLPAGES=20700 & GBLSECTIONS=300.
I was sure it was a file protection thing? This doesn't ring any bells?

| | Take a look at the DECW$SM.LOG (I think that's the right name). There
    might be some clues in there.

| | To check if you have enough GBLPAGES and GBLSECTIONS do:
    $ write sys$output f$getsyi("free_gblpages")
    $ write sys$output f$getsyi("free_gblsections")

| | Actually, taking a look at the ncp counters may provide some info too,
    if its an ni/hw problem.

| | My system exhibited the same symptoms...the problem seemed to be caused
by version skew in DECwindows...I had installed in the following order:
	VMS V5.2 SSB MUP
	DECWIFT1020
	VMS T5.2-1
...and logging in produced the color change and Icon Box, but nothing more.
Reinstallation of DECWIFT1020 remedied this problem.

| 1105.8 | PAGEFILE.SYS - too small perhaps? | FESTER::SPIVAK |  | Tue Jul 18 1989 17:04 | 9 |
|  |     Ted,

    Since you say you just added this system to your cluster, I suggest
    that you look at the size of your page file. You will probably find
    that it is too small.

    Hope this helps,
    Marat
