| | This works fine for me. I haven't seen any of the errors you are
    describing.

Both the DECwindows IFT1 and DECwrite kits install the CDA viewer,
with the DECwindows/VMS kits doing it unconditionally and the DECwrite
kit doing it only if it determines that it has a "newer" version
to install than already exists on the system.

Please do an "$ analyze/image" on the following files and post the
    image identification strings here: sys$library:cda$access.exe,
sys$system:cda$convert.exe, sys$system:ddif$view.exe. All we need is
    the line like:

        image file identification: "CDA T1.2-890512"

Also please tell us the order in which you did your installations.
 |
| | re .1:

Thanks for your help. I'm Carsten, Jan and I are working on the
same system (JONTOM, 49.62). The image idents are:

		image name: "CDA$ACCESS"
		image file identification: "CDA T1.2-890512"
		image name: "CDA$CONVERT"
		image file identification: "CDA V1.1-890622"
		image name: "DDIF$VIEW"
		image file identification: "CDA V1.1-890622"

The order of installations was: DECwindows V2 IFT1, DECwrite PR2, then
    DECdecision MSC.
Dick Gumbel suggested to try a VIEW/INTER=DECWINDOWS somefile.DDIF.
    It issues the same error.
BTW we had a look at VUE$DDIF_VIEWER.COM. There was that unfamiliar
value X_DISPLAY for the SELECT qualifier of the VIEW command. Is
    this correct?
Some more problems occurred in the meantime. Invoking EVE
    from the Files menu issues:
X Toolkit warning: Widget class DECterm version mismatch:
    widget 7001 vs. intrinsics 11003
And there were two bugchecks, DECbuilder and DECcalc. Are you
    interested in the dumpfiles?
We're *really* glad for your help!

But although we have some problems here I like the new versions
    very much.

Er... I tried to find out the idents but ana/ima doesn't seem to
work on these files. Could you tell me how to do it? I don't know
    about them.

    I did a dir/full, here's the output:

Hmmm. I was surprised about the two occurrences of DDIF$VIEW.UID.
I think one should be deleted, most probably the one under
    SYS$SYSROOT. Correct?

| | Hi,
	here are some interesting news.
	I am currently running a windows session on a VS2000, a satellite
of JONTOM. Since it has 6 MB only, I have most of the tasks running
	on the boot member.
All of a sudden there's a new error message:

X Toolkit Warning: Widget class DVRviewer version mismatch:
  	widget 7001 vs. intrinsics 11003
Seems like our CDA viewer problem (connected with DVR, whatever
that is) could be connected with that XToolkit version mismatch
problem already mentioned in this discussion and in 1070.*.
	Any ideas?
	Carsten

| | Hi again,
still the same session. Here's a new error from the FileView - Notes
	window:
X error event received from server: BadValue - integer parameter out of range
Failed request major op code 62 (X_CopyArea)
Failed request minor op code 0 (if applicable)
ResourceID 0xffffffeb in failed request (if applicable)
Serial number of failed request 37842
Current serial number in output stream 37844
%XLIB-E-ERROREVENT, error event received from server

I'm beginning to feel confused... ;-)
OK, with that I'm off for today, it's already 9:45 pm here.
	Bye
	Carsten
