    I'm a newcomer to the wonderful world of windows, and I'm having
    a problem that's probably awfully easy to solve.  Can't seem to
    find a topic that pertains, though.
    
    My configuration is a VAXstation 3100 running VMS FT3 V5.1 (the
    only V5.1 version that seems to run on this CPU) and DECwindows
    SDC kit.
    
    Everything appears to be going well, but when I try to edit a file
    and select EVE for the editor, I get the following error:
    
    %LIB-E-ACTIMAGE, error activating image
    EZWIND$DKA200:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB]DECW$XLIBSHR.EXE
    -SYSTEM-F-SHRIDMISMAT, ident mismatch with shareable image

    I upgraded the workstation from a late VMS V5.0 field test and
    DECwindows FT2 with no difficulty.
    
    Any ideas?

    I'm not quite sure what FT3 is, but your problem is that you have
    a mismatch between the client version and the library version.  It
    would appear that you either installed an SDC-like version of VMS (and
    hence EVE) without upgrading to the SDC version of DECwindows or
    vice-versa.

The VAXstation 3100's currently run VMS V5.1-TB0, aka the PVAX FT3 kit.
This allows the PVAX to run the SDC DECwindows kit, but VMS is still at
something less than the SDC V5.1.

I have the same problem.  So, I'm just biding time, waiting for the fabled
VMS V5.1B, official support for PVAX kit.

	You should probably upgrade to VMS V5.1-TB1.  The kit installs
	on V5.1-TB0 and can be found in:

		DLOACT""::SYS$KITS:[PVAX.FT3U]

That just is some fixed disk and tape drivers along with the corresponding
ERF stuff. 

It shouldn't affect DECwindows' type operations.
