| 65.1 | VS2000s are ok | CVG::THOMPSON | Notes? What's Notes? | Mon Jan 30 1989 14:09 | 7 |
| | A 6 meg VS2000 was working very well for me. I did prefer to run
	somethings on an 8550 with the display on the VS2000. Now that I've
	got 14 meg on the VS2000 I don't run near as much on the 8550. I'm
	pretty fussy but performance is ok by me.

| 65.2 | 6MB VS2000 works here too | AGBEAR::HORNER | A.G.Bear, Low tech teddy bear | Mon Jan 30 1989 17:34 | 9 |
|  |     I'm running on a 6MB VS2000 also.  I had to experiment with limits on
    working sets, and enable very mild and gradual working set decrementing,
    but after this, things work quite well. Response is usually quite
    snappy, and I can keep a 3000 to 3500 page freelist to handle most of
    the paging. I usually have about 6 applications going at any one time,
    but only one of them using heavy CPU time.

|  |     I have a 6mb VS2000 running some comms LP's. As a result I run with
    1-600 free pages and am waiting for my 12 mb memory board to arrive.

| 65.5 | (un)supported display? | TIAMAT::BELANGER | The obvious is so confusing | Wed Feb 01 1989 11:17 | 12 |

    	I have a VS2000-GPX with a prototype high-resolution monochrome
    display (VR419) called a KAPRI (image II). Currently VWS X4.1 supports
    this display but I can't seem to get DECwindows to run on it. Since
    DECwindows is the wave of the future it would be nice to be able
    to use it on this machine. Does DECwindows support this machine?
    If not, are there plans to support it?

    Thanx,

| 65.6 | Nope | DECWIN::FISHER | Burns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO3-4/W23 | Wed Feb 01 1989 12:06 | 6 |
| | Last I knew, the Kapri was a limited-production special for one particular
customer. The VWS adaptation was done by SWS. Since it is not a production
system, DECwindows has no plans to support it as a base product.

    The Image-II (aka Kapri) was a "special" workstation built explicitly
    as a high-performance monochrome imaging system (it replaces microfiche
    readers). And the initial work and support was done by SWS in
    Syracuse NY for the cusomer it was designed for. The V4.1 release will
    (or should) have merged that work into the standard VWS distribution.
    It is unclear what the future status of the Kapri will be.

    It's a neat system in a lot of respects, 100dpi 19" monitor, image
    scaling, rotation, clipping and decompression (CCITT level 3 I think)
    in hardware.

| 65.8 | Can anyone list all the systems? | 28042::SMITH |  | Thu May 18 1989 11:49 | 6 |
| | Does anyone have a list of all the workstations (old & new) which
	will run DECwindows? We're trying to get 4 systems of any (VMS) type
	which will run them.

|  | I'll try:
	VAXstation II
	VAXstation II/GPX
	VAXstation 2000
	VAXstation 2000/GPX
	VAXstation 3100
	VAXstation 3500
	VAXstation 3520
	VAXstation 3540
	DECstation 3100
No doubt I've missed a few.

|  |         You missed the Vaxstation II/RC  :-)

        It is probably easier to say that it won't work on Vaxstation
        100's, Vaxstation 1's, and Vaxstation 8000's.

It won't work on a DECstation 78 either. :-)
