    I heard that a woman, running as an independent, is struggling to
    get her name on the ballot in all 50 states.  Anyone know anything
    about her.  For some inexplicable reason, she's not getting much
    press if she's really out there.

    Most independent candidates don't get much press, and if it's a
    woman candidate, forget it.
    
    In my opinion, I feel that the media really elects the president.
    Already, the newspapers are starting to declare Bush the winner.
    
    In spite of this b.s., I'll still turn up at the voting booth on
    election day, although the whole process can be disheartening at
    times.
    

    
    One of the things that I resent about the New Alliance Party is that
    they masquerade as part of the Rainbow Coalition (which they are
    not.)  They are quite familiar with Rainbow "terminology" but
    do not abide by Rainbow philosophy.

    The few dealings I have had with them have been less than pleasant.

    17 points in the polls.  (I suspect it is an NBC poll.)
    
    Yes, I agree it is disheartening to see how the media leads people
    in the direction that will benefit the media.

    
    Jody, I would have to hunt up her campaign material for you. I refused
    to sign a petition to have her name placed on the ballot about a
    year ago because of my awareness of NAP tactics.

    News Fulani wants to spoil Dukakis' chances.  I'll enter bits and

        Using public money and a small but savvy organization, a black
    New York psychologist is making a left-wing bid for the presidency
    with the goal of siphoning enough Democratic votes - in key states
    like California- to throw the election to Vice President George

    Lenora B. Fulani, who hopes to show the Democratic party the costs
    of ignoring her "rainbow" constituency, is given only an outside
    shot at success.  But in an extremely rare achievement for a
    minor-party candidate, she has secured a place on the ballot in all
    50 states and has qualified for more than $750,000 in matching
    funds.

        Fulani argues that the mainstream parties will do nothing
    meaningful for minorities. "These people need to understand that
    it's a total myth that the Democrats are going to do anything for
    the blacks, the gays and the lesbians," Fulani said in a recent

    plan on Nov. 8, they'll come running to us on Nov. 9."
    
        Fulani's carefully crafted election strategy emphasizes 10 states
    where Bush and Dukakis are so evenly matched that a third candidate
    could hold the balance of power.  If Fulani can draw 1 to 2 percent
    of the vote in those states, her advisors believe, she can rob both
    Bush and Dukakis of an electoral majority.
    
        "We're hoping for a replay of what happened nationwide in 1968",
    said Jim Mangia, a Fulani organizer now working as educational director
    of the East Bay AIDS Project in Berkeley.  "George Wallace ran,
    the Southerners bolted the party, and the Democrats have been kowtowing
    to conservative whites ever since."

        No matter how her punish-the-Democrats strategy pays out, Fulani's
    most important achievement may be in constructing a campaign
    organization that can reliably place independent candidates on the
    ballot.
    
        Sinwaski, the New Alliance attorney, says no left-wing group
    in decades has been able to do so; it is, he maintains, the first
    step toward forming a competitive third party.
    
        "It may pave the way for an independent Jesse Jackson candidacy
    in 1992" he said.  "The Mechanism would be here if he wants to use
    it."

The TV media is especially dreadful -- anything to preserve
rating points and megabucks. No major network sent investigative
reporters to look into the hostage story. (Many network
correspondents have complained off-the-record that their networks
told them to go easy on Reagan and Bush to keep the ratings up.) 

Peter Rodino in the House has been trying to get enough support
to look into it for months. That's where the following letter
comes from.  Who knows, maybe Bush will be elected just in time
to be impeached.

Dear Mr. Rodino,

I am extremely disturbed by allegations concerning the conduct of
the President and Vice President conduct in the June, 1980, Paris
negotiations over the possible release of Mid_East hostages.  It
has been reported that our current leaders recommended
withholding the release of the hostages until after the November
1980 elections and it's further alleged that some forty million
dollars of American tax dollars were involved in secret
negotiations with Iranian leaders. 

   It should be relatively simple to get a Yes or No response to these 
charges without resorting to impeachment proceedings and we request 
that you take immediate action to secure the truth and lay this issue 
to rest.

    there is a discussion going on in SOAPBOX which lists many sources,
    including several from within Reagan's campaign staff of 1980, which
    support allegations that an actual deal was cut to stall any efforts
    made by then president Carter to secure the safe release of American
    hostages.  also, several of the participants have become dead since
    then, some by natural causes, some by not so natural causes.
    
    but pay no heed to me, and also keep the faith that Richard Nixon
    is not a crook, we all know deep in our hearts that the man who
    would be president would *NEVER* commit a crime (such as treason),
    even if it would insure him victory in an election.
