AlphaServer 4000 5/400
Firmware V5.28
ECU 1.9
Have HAL (version B I think) from internet
5 4GB disks, only one of which is formatted and partitioned
NT Server V3.51 (also happens with V4.0)
During install, it runs for about 2-3 minutes then crashes with
the following error:
status code 0X4,0X1,0,0
Then have to turn the machine off and back on to re-boot, only to
have same problem re-occur.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sharon

Hi Sharon
status code 0X4,0X1,0,0
wnt thinks that one of your disks has a virus on it and stops at
this code. the virus ends up being a not FAT/NT formatted disk
in the backplane somewhere.
easiest way around this is pull/backout all the disks in the system
except for the one you will be building wnt on. this disk will need
to be fat/ntfs formatted using alphabios first, then go ahead and
install wnt to it. after wnt is built and boots succcessfully then
reinsert the other disks and they can be used under disk admin to
make them wnt formatted. make sure these are not vms/unix disks that
someone wants to use for those functions. disk admin will wipeout
those of operating systems disks.
