975.0. "PAW reaches end-of-life!" by ESSB::RJOYCE () Wed May 21 1997 10:07

I'm sure that Jim and others will define the communications
necessary to help us inform our Customers that CA PAW will no
longer be developed by C.A. beyond the current V3.0 release, it is
considered 'functionally complete' and it will not keep track of SMS or
SMS SPs, it will not be tested and approved with SMS 1.2 sp1 even.

So much for commitments to V3.1 and onwards. Customers will I presume
be given easy and cheap options to migrate to QuickD or AMO (their new
    Asset Management product).

    Have fun,

I just returned from DECUS and will prepare a formal statement on AssetWORKS.
Briefy, AssetWORKS V3.0 is the last release for AssetWORKS as we know it. The
functionality will be added to "Unicenter Asset Management" and will appear in
the V3.0 release of that product sometime in the Q4 timeframe. (Beta for this
product is expected in mid-September). CA will also improve the reporting and
metering features as well. Since this is an option to the Unicenter Enterprise
Console, customers must be running Unicenter to take advantage of this product.

This Unicenter Asset Management option is an add-on to Unicenter TNG, not to
SMS like AssetWORKS was. Customers who do use SMS will be able to continue to
use it through this Unicenter option.

CA does not yet have a formal migration path at this time, but probably will
put one in place at a later date. In the meantime, customers should call CA
for migration info.
