| re -.1 - Gary, if you are still around can you share your experiences
and choices for which scripting product to use? anyone else have
    experiences/choices/opinions that they can share?

Does anyone know if Digital or some other vendor has a library of
    scripts for non-MS products?

    THX!

| I'm rather new to SMS, but for the packages I've build so far
I've used:
   - (good) old MS-DOS scripts
     * in one case this meant that the setup program of the product
I'm installing is run and the user gets to give her/his own
       input
     * in another case the setup program of the product I'm installing
has a command line interface, and thus my script uses the
       appropriate command line switches
   - PERL scripts
but in this case there was no setup program to run
Something I worked with in the past, before I started with SMS, is a
scripting tool, called WinBatch, which I'm sure can be used for SMS
package scripts. At the time, 4 years back, this tool was rather
cheap +/- $ 50 and the compiler was +/- $ 400 extra.
I've not used it recently; there probably is a new version for W95 now.
There may be better products available, like WinInstall, but I've no
info or experience with them.
Piet.
