James Cameron reporting... [with editorial assistance from Kym Schwarz]
We arrived near the church to find parking a minor challenge, so we
parked some fifty metres from the buildings. The church is in the
middle of a poor housing area; houses and large unit blocks built by
the government. So this is the church that my church seeded so long
ago? Looks like they planted it in an area that needed it.
Walking up to the church, noticed the usual crowd of well dressed
people milling around waiting for the right time to go in and sit
down... and a group of people across the road shabbily dressed at the
steps of their block, watching the spectacle... and an old man and his
wife feeding the rosellas (very colourful birds) on their balcony above
    the courtyard of the church.
Noticed also a person with a rather expensive looking betacam news
style video camera, with a sound crew behind him; with a microphone
boom. I didn't think this was unusual, I've been to a few weddings
where someone knew someone who could borrow a betacam machine. They
were set up on a tripod covering where the cars would likely turn up
    with the bride.
We joined the milling guests... and were hailed by young Kym Schwarz
(GIDDAY::SCHWARZ) so we got to chatting... wondering how Peter was
going to cope without Netrek or other computer based addictions while
    on his honeymoon.
Suddenly, two news crew vehicles rolled up and rapidly emptied; two
more betacams, two more sound booms, and two well dressed reporters.
All the Sydney commercial television stations were now represented.
Then there was a newspaper photographer and someone with them who had
the look of a newspaper reporter; notepad in hand.
Then, instead of what we expected, an ambulance rolled up and stopped
outside the church. In the bus stop mind you! No lights or siren, but
an ambulance officer driving and someone dressed in a suit in the
    passenger (left) seat.
The three news crews jump into action and rush down to the ambulance.
The suited guy gets out and is followed by the cameras. The reporters
stop to have a word with him in the courtyard. We wonder what on earth
is going on. Who is this guy?
Peter Sumskas jests... it was great to *not* be the centre of attention
at his own wedding, even for a short time. The news crews walked
    straight past him.
The bride was late. Of course. Peter was asked previously how long he
was going to wait for her. Peter reportedly said 25 hours, just in
case she got the day wrong.
As per custom, Peter and his party went and hid (alright, waited) in
the church. The bridal party arrived at last. In posh looking cars.
[Peter turned up in a beat up Honda :-) - Kym] The news crews rushed
to interview the bride (Sarah) and caught her before she had got
far... still veiled of course. These crews were really stuffing up the
    regular wedding sequence.

The guy who was in the ambulance joins the bridal party. Ah. Light
dawns. He's the bride's father! And he's got an injured hand; bandaged
and still slightly bloodied. Not some high ranking government/medical
official. Sympathetic comments all round. So the news crews were doing
a human interest story. Furry animal slot in the newscast.
Kym, Petria and I enter the church and take our seats. The three news
crews set up inside; two up the front (in front of the groom's party,
mind you!), one up the back, along with the "expected" non-news crew
    video guy.
The minister welcomed us all, and particularly the bride's father, who,
he said, had injured himself on a saw that morning and was going to go
back to the hospital for microsurgury after the wedding.

[Peter was asked what he thinks of Sarah - he was unable to answer, it
wasn't in the script! - Kym]

The news crews covered the giving away of the bride, then they walked
off to the creaking of floor boards while Peter and Sarah said their
    vows.
The vows were neat. I can't remember the exact wording, or most of
what was said (fine witness to a vow I am!). But the style was
informal and almost sounded ad-lib. [<name>, I love you, You're my
best friend... - Kym] Hopefully Peter will get a chance to enter them
    in here!
[At the end of the service the mandatory photos were taken and then the
press photographer took over wanting to get a photo of the father of
the bride and the bride next to the ambulance. Once again Peter was
upstaged and was not asked to be a part of the photo. - Kym]

Hymn - "Great Is Your Faithfulness"
Great is Your faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of change we can see;
You do not change and Your kindness is lasting,
As You have been forever You will be.
Great is Your faithfulness
Great is Your faithfulness
Morning by morning, new kindness I see
All I have needed Your hand has provided
Great is Your faithfulness
Lord God to me.
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in various witness
To Your great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Great is Your faithfulness ...
Pardon for sin and a peace that's forever,
Your presence with me to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside.
Great is Your faithfulness ...
