The "Inerrancy of Scripture" note brought this to mind.
I remember a meeting I had with the pastor who was to marry Jamie and I.
Jamie told him that I didn't believe the bible was 100% true, 100%
	God's word.
I told him that the bible was folklore, word of mouth accounts
that eventually got written down by mere humans.
Praise God for the loving response of that dear man. He didn't
respond in outrage, he merely read to me from Timothy and from
Revelation, and explained to me that God kept watch over his word,
and woe to the person who adds or takes away from it.
That was it, then we went on with our pre-marital counseling session
(our second, I believe). At the end of the meeting, he handed me
a tract by Billy Graham about the steps to salvation. I accepted
the Lord later that evening after reading that tract three times through.
Step of Faith number 1: Believing that what the Bible said about itself
				 was true.
Step of Faith number 2: Believing that what the Bible said about Jesus
				 and Salvation were true.

Without the first step, I doubt that the second would have occurred.
Without the second step, I wouldn't be saved today!
Once I accepted God's word as true, I began to realize that the
things that I didn't understand were not a problem with the Bible,
but problems with me that I would need God's help to resolve.
He has shown me over and over and over and over since then that
His word IS true, and that all of his promises are "Yes" and "Amen".
I had to take the first step, though.

Seriously, each day in the past several months my first step out of the
bed is a step of faith. Later, a smile on my face and a sincerely
enthusiastic greeting to others is a step of faith. Though there is
little direct evidence that God is being glorified, I know that He is
and someday I shall know how and how much.
