| | All I can offer on Lunds is about what I offered to the smokercraft
note, they have a good rep. From what I've seen on print and on the
tube, the 14-16' Lund semi-v is the standard boat for most northern
    country outfitters/guides.

SSS, you still out there? You have a Lund - how is it holding up?

| 1612.2 | Good solid boats, Lund | HYEND::POPIENIUCK |  | Fri Jun 07 1991 12:39 | 10 |
| | I looked at LUND boats two years ago before buying my Sea Nymph. My
impression of the Lunds was of a boat that was VERY strong and well
made, heavy duty and fairly simply (plain layout, not many extra
    frills).  This might also explain why it is used a lot by outfitters;
low maintenance and it will take a beating from constant use. If I
hadn't wanted some of the extras, I would have bought the Lund. Seen
lots of em way up north.

| | Yep,

I'm still here. I didn't reply right away since my Lund is not the
model in question - I have a Tyee; a bowrider with a front deck
conversion. Mine just celebrated its 4th birthday and I haven't had
any problems. Nothing's broken, nothing's falling apart. The reputation
is deserved: Lunds are solid as a rock (but float better). They are not
popular here - I've seen one other in Tennessee; there is no local dealer
but folks are familiar with them via The In-Fisherman and Babe Winkelman
shows. We'll see if that matters at trade-in time.

Drawbacks - The paint job makes for a prettier boat initially but looks
bad after it's been banged up. I docked mine on the Conn river one
summer and tore up the paint job on the docks/other boats/etc. and
ended up with a slime coat that took 2 seasons to remove. The other
drawback is that they sell for a premium. I only had one local
dealership in WMass and they gave me a discounted price and said take
it or leave it. I could have had a lot of other boats for less but had
    already made up my mind.

I agree with the comments re:outfitters up north - I don't think they
would be so prevalent if they were not so sturdy and dependable. Good
boat for big water. The only boat I've seen comparable to my Lund is a
Nordic Crestliner - just as solid and looks prettier - no rivets
    either!

    Good Luck,
    -SSS-

| | I also have a Lund (16.5 Tyee). I think its a great boat for fishing
and secondarily as a "family" boat. Mine is a 1989, my friend has an 87
Fiberglass 17' model and it's a real beauty of a boat. I went to
Minnesota to buy mine (better prices - MUCH). I would recommend them
    highly.
Don. ps. sorry for the slow respones I hadn't been in the file for
                  a while.
