| Try Hopkinton Reservoir, especially near the Route 85 bridge. I've
had great luck fishing with shiners off the bridge or from my
canoe.
My favorite is Chauncy Lake in Westboro. The water is murky, but
very clean, the shoreline is lightly developed and there are
several coves and weedy areas that can be quite productive. There
is a ramp off Chauncy Street, which itself runs off Lyman Street
[heading West on Route 9, turn right at the Burger King onto
Lyman Street; Chauncy will be the first left. Follow it along for
about half mile. You can walk most of the West part of the shore,
which is owned by Mass Fish and Wildlife. The lake is lightly fished,
has some large pike and is quite pretty. The are waterskiers in
summer and now and then skidoos are a pest [the state is trying
to restrict them], but all in all this is a good spot, especially
if you have a small boat.
If you drive along from Chauncy on Lyman Street you will come
to two other ponds. The first is Little Chauncy pond, which
has a fisherman's access area and reputedly has good largemouth
fishing, and Bartlett Pond, which has a new access area built
by the town of Northboro. I've caught bass and pickerel in
there.

If you know the area you can reach Lyman Street off Route 20
in Northboro by turning left on Bartlett Street and following
it along past the high school.
These are all pleasant spots and should give you some good luck.

| As far as I know there are no trout in Milham Res., but there are
bass. Although it was totally drained about 5 years ago or more, that
should have been enough time for fish to get to decent size. Before
the draining my cousin use to fish there alot and caught many nice
bass. I only fished it once and caught a few bass in the 1-2lb range
but havent since the draining. I can also vouche for the chauncy pond
and barlett. I had about a 30" tiger muskie at chauncy but lost it next
to the boat. Good luck!

Have heard lots of pike stories out of Chauncey, but yours is
the first muskie. When? Do you remember where on the lake?
I'm going after it...if it takes five years [which at my
luck at will, though by then it should be more than
30"!]

I have in my office a picture from the Worcestor Gazette of two
years ago of a very happy man holding a 31 inch 6 1/4 pond TIGER
MUSKIE. Talk about one ugly fish with LARGE TEETH!!!

I think. It was 8 pounds and change pretty Tiger Muskie.

| Thanks for all the replies. I plan on checking out Chauncey sometime this
weekend; I'll let you all know if I hook up with anything worth talking
about. Hopefully the resident tiger muskies will let me land a few
bass without ripping them off the hook.
BTW, are Chauncey and A1 one in the same?

| Chauncey,and A1 are not the same. They are a couple of miles apart,and
on opposite sides of Rt. 9.
A1 is down by Duddy Ford, and Chauncey's(big,and l'il) are near the
Julio's Plaza/Honolulu/Burger Disk..err King

If you're out on Chauncey this weekend and see a big guy in
a blue canoe it's me. Say hello. How will I know you? Best chances
for bass -from my experience- are the cove near the state ramp, the
west shore near the ramp [and just around the point from there] and
the far west shore. Pike hang out at the little cove east of the
Westboro beach and the far west cove. Have no idea where the
muskies but my steel leaders are ready!

Sorry I did'nt give any pond info on the previous reply. I was
at Little Chauncy Saturday my partner caught a 2 lb and change Bass,
this pond is more scenic than Big Chauncy and no water skiers. A1
has 5 lb and up Bass also Pike and Tiger Muskie. Milham.....
Oh well I had my share of fun there already so... I have caught
20 2-3 lb Bass there in 4 or 5 trips this year from shore. One trip
I got 10 in about 3 hours. Bartlett has good fishing, but has seen
alot more pressure since the new ramp went in. If you don't mind
portaging there is a pond behind the Berlin sand pits on Rt62.
Jeff tells they call it the "Dam Pond". All I can say is try it.

| Another scenic spot is Rocky Pond in Boylston. Go out Church
Street through Northboro. Go under 495 and go along maybe a
mile or so to Rocky Pond Road, turn right, make another right,
drive along a hundred yards or so and there is a parking
area/ramp. Bass and pickerel in there. Is fairly high elevation
so expect a little wind.

| Looks like Milham Reservoir is off-limits. Tried fishing there after work
yesterday, but some local cop informed me that the Res. is off limits: no
tresspassing / no fishing. I didn't see anything posted, however, but
I wasn't going to argue with the guy. Oh well; guess I'll leave the
bass for the local kids who can sneak in and out on foot.

It's good to hear that my old(17 yrs ago) fishing holes are still
producing. I used to live in Westboro and cought my first BASS in
Bartlett and So did my Wife.
How long have the Muskies been there? I would have loved to catch
one but my gear would not have held it.

Sandy Pond if it is the one that you are thinking of in Ayer is
a good spot. During the spring it is good for trout and during
the summer months and the Autumn I have had very good luck fishing
for largemouth bass. Park at the beach entrance and walk down the
road to the bridge. You may want to take note that there are signs
marked private property along the road. The residents will kick
you out if you attempt to fish in these spots, but the bridge area
is fine. You can launch a small boat from that area. I hope this
