| | Plugs Pond Directions from Plaistow -

Take Rt 125 south into Haverhill. Take a left at Monument
Square (Rotary with a bronzed ? monument in the middle). Go down this
road (rt. 110 I think) past the armory to the first light (about a mile
down). If you take a right at the light and bear to the right, you'll
see one of the boat ramps to Plugs pond on your left. If you continue
further down this road (Mill St.), you'll go up a hill, down the other
side of the hill and just after you go through the downhill "S" turn
take a left and another left and this is the other entrance to Plugs
Pond (if you see Boardman St on your left, you went far).

BTW - If you take a left at the light instead of a right,
and go down that road about a mile, on your right is Round Pond. Some
people prefer this over Plugs pond. Both ponds are (or were) heavily
stocked with trout and both also contain bass.

| | I guess I should clarify. What I have is a list
of N.H. Fishing waters and where they are located. It isn't
a map/atlas. It is helpful though in locating new waters to
fish. I'd love to start at the first one and work right on
through the list........with my wife's approval of course.

| 1030.11 | A little help for Bob! | DASXPS::ARUSSELL | FISHING SEASON?..GOING,GOING,GONE | Fri Apr 14 1989 18:36 | 38 |
| | Maybe the following could help those who are looking for fishing
    spots in N.H.

1.) When you purchase a resident or non-resident fishing license
you should receive/ask for the " N.H.F.& G.D. Freshwater Fishing
Guide" (blue book). Inside this booklet is a listing of ALL fishing
waters in N.H., by County. It tells you the name of the lake, pond,
river or stream, it's size, accessibility, special restrictions and
species of fish that can be had. Also there is a "key to codes"
to help identify the different categories and a small map to locate
the counties. Handy little booklet for the price....FREE!
Available where fishing licenses are sold (K-MART, variety stores, etc.)

2.) You could call or write to the N.H. Fish and Game Dept. for
your free copy, they'll be glad to send you one (or even some). Why
not, that's where some of your license fees go towards!! Their address
and phone number is as follows:
                                     Fish and Game Dept.
    				     2 Hazen Dr.
    				     Concord, N.H. 03301
    				     (603)271-3211 or 271-3421/3422

If you call them, ask for the other booklet they have called "Where
to fish in N.H." ( I believe that's the name of it? ) It too has the
listing of ponds, lakes, etc. and for the same price.

3.) Another good source is the N.H. GAZETEER AND ATLAS which is
a map of the entire state.... listing roads, lakes, ponds, rivers,
    towns, etc. COST $10.95 +/-

    Hope this helps

    Hi!

Does anyone know of some good trout/bass/pickerel spots in
Southern NH/Northern MA ???? I'm planning a trip this weekend...

Also, if anyone knows of some places in the Nashua area
    for bait and tackle...

    Thanks in advance!
    Angela.

| 1030.13 | hope this helps | WAHOO::LEVESQUE | Black as night, Faster than a shadow... | Thu Jul 06 1989 16:01 | 21 |
| | I can help with the southern NH info.
Bass, Pickerel, etc can be caught in decent numbers in the Nashua River,
Merrimack River, Robinson's Pond (Hudson), Pawtuckaway Lake (Nottingham)
and a slew of other places.
Trout will be tough to catch now since the water's rather warm. You should
still have a chance if you fish the Souhegan River or the Nissitissit River.
But pickens will probably be slim.
If you have a boat, your choices are better. The Nashua River has a surprising
number of fish in it. Don't eat them, though. :-}
Good tackle spots are Zyla's (old rt 3 in Merrimack), Merrimack River
Outfitters (in old post office building in Hudson). JR's Discount on
Daniel Webster Highway also has good prices but a smaller selection.
Good luck, and report back if you manage to catch any big ones. (or at least
have an amusing story to tell :-)

| 1030.14 | HELP!! | CECV03::MURCH |  | Wed Jul 12 1989 15:38 | 20 |
| | I need some advise. I really can't read thru all these great
notes. I am taking my god-child (7years old) and a friend (9 years
old) fishing this weekend. I live in Nashua, N.H. I would like
to know of any good places in NH within an hour drive of Nashua, where
I could take them fishing off shore. I would like to avoid deep woods
     with swarms of misquitoes.

I have fished several times, using worms. Is there particularly
any good lures to purchase for bass?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to go to a
place where we could eat the fish. (not just fish for the sport)

        Still a beginner,
                  regards,

                            Tom
