Speaking of Stanley Jigs. Does anyone know where I can get some.
I found some at the fair in Worc. but they only had one color that
I did,nt want. So a good selection would be nice. I tried the fair
in West Boyalston, J+S hunting in Auburn, Northboro trading post,
Forest Orchard archery (yes they have fishing stuff), The Outdoorsman,
even went to Northern Bass and did'nt see any. I even called Bass
Pro but thier colors are limited. so it's not like I have'nt tried.

     thanks in advance,

        Walt

| | This year like every year I try to get some experience in working new
tackle. This year I would like to work on my jigging. I recently
tried using several types including rattle jigs, traditional jigs and
the new Strike king bootlegger jigs. I have great success with rattles
and bootleggers and would like more info from you experienced Jiggers.

Do you punch a jig right into the thickest soup? In otherwords you see
a ton of heavy millfoil or coontail, do you drop the jig right into the
heart of that junk? If you do, do you do a slow retrive lifting and
dropping from 10 oclock to 12? Or do you just use a vertical lift and
drop positioning yourself right over the top?

Are jigs good in heavy lily pads 2-5 ft of water?

    What trailers do you favor?

I was totally amazed at the ability of the jig to fish heavy brush and
fallen trees without getting hung up. I like this lure, but really
would like to hear how others use it.

| 1008.9 | jig-n-pig | DONMAC::MACINTYRE | Terminal Angler | Mon Jul 08 1991 11:59 | 10 |
| | When I fish a jig it's almost always a jig-n-pig, typically a standard
stanley rubber skirted jig (black and blue) with an uncle josh #11 pork
    frog (blue).

No, I don't fish jigs in the soupy stuff. They are not weedless enough
for me. I'll fish them in reeds or other 'hard' weeds, but not the
soft soupy stuff. Wood and rocks as well. Additionally, I'll fish it
more when the water temps are lower in the spring and fall.

| 1008.10 | Do Bass hit weed choked jigs? | DELNI::OTA |  | Mon Jul 08 1991 13:04 | 13 |
| | Yeah I hear you DonMac. I really am looking for something that can
punch holes in the heavy weedbeds. We went fishing in shallow water 5
feet or less that the coontail and millfoil came up to 1 foot of the
surface. Where ever there was a break I would toss in a spinnerbait or
a sluggo and caught a couple of nice bucketmouths but that was drawing
them out of heavy cover. When I try jigging in that junk I can see it
move from clump to clump often times dragging weed. I don't know if
bass will hit a jig covered or dragging weeds. Has anyone out there
any experience in using Jigs in heavy soupy weeds? I really feel in
the high temps and sunlit days they're down in that junk and I need a
    weapon to temp them out.
