| I don't have the number handy but I think there is a shop in Hartford
Ct. area. The number in Irvine, Ca should be able to get you the

| Call Bucko's (508 674-7900) in Fall River, Ma.. The reel may be
under an extended warranty, and if so, they'll fix it for free.
The only charge is gettin' it there. I've used 'em, and they are
terrific - fast and good.

| Thanks for the fast reply. I called California. The person I talked
to was great. She took the part numbers I wanted and asked if they were
spools or major items. I said they were only washers. She said if
the parts were minor in cost, then they would just send them to
me at no cost. She said it would take about two weeks. I'll let
you know if they come through as promised.
Thanks for the other info. I keep it handy. May need it sometime
when I am in a hurry.

| Ed,
For what ever it's worth, Bucko's always has a booth at the Worcester
Fishing Expo (coming up this week 1 Feb - 5 Feb). Last year I called them
in Fallriver and had them bring the parts I was looking for to the show and I
picked them up while I was there. It saved me a trip to their shop....

I will look them up at the show. Always good to know a reliable
repair source. Who knows, maybe Shimano won't come through.

| On Monday, the 30th, the mail had a small box from Shimano. The
parts I called for on the 25th were enclosed. NO CHARGE!! They shipped
from CA. on the 27th. Cost them $.45 postage. My kind of service!
For your info I needed one washer and included in the order three
felt washers and two spring washers that looked worn.
Again, thanks for the assistance. Without this file, and the people
who input into it, I would still be looking for the number.

| A few weeks ago I broke a 6'6" Shimano baitcaster that I have had for
a few years. I returned it to Shimano. Yesterday there was a box
on my deck. I was psyched. The box contained MOST of my broken rod
and a form that had a couple of boxes checked off - indicating that
they nolonger manufacture this rod and that it would not be covered by
warranty. I was bummed - especially about the fact that they lost
part of the rod. Tomorrow morning I'll have a 'disappointed' letter
off to Shimano... If anything becomes of it I'll post it here.

| My neighbor bought a Shimano 6'6" trigger rod this spring and had the
reel seat fail after a week. He packed it up and sent it back.
They lost it, he had to get a tracer from UPS before they would do
anything. Two months after he sent it back the new one showed up.
Guess what? You bet,the reel seat was screwed up on that one right
out of the box. He called customer service and they told him to send
it back. He asked to talk to the customer service manager. He went
through the whole mess with the manager. The manager was not surprised.
They have a problem with that model, and it has been discontinued.
But he did agree to send another rod out (different model).
So Don I would suggest calling back and ask for the manager. That
might help.

| I own a Shimano spinning reel, its a baitrunner, can't remember
which model, but one i use for bass and blues.
Anyway, the reel face, directly in front of the spool has
a plastic nut in it to hold the spool and drag lever onto
the reel. When i bought it the tackle shop put on 12 lb.
test. For a while it worked fine, but then i started getting
loops in the line, and you guessed it, it snags on the
plastic not, then finally sneaks under the drag lever.
Can't live with this crap, so i went to a local tackle
shop, "oh yeah we're familiar with that problem" I hate
to hear that cause it means mine isn't unusual.
I had some 20 lb. line put on and so far its been ok,
but somewhere in the back of mind mind i have this
doubt. The guy at the tackle shop said "you can't buy a
better reel except ...."
Anyone else notice this...
