| 689.1 | A clean boat is a happy Boat | AD::GIBSON |  | Mon Apr 25 1988 12:10 | 15 |
| | Same here. I'm always looking for GOOD company for a days fishing.
There are far too many people who just want a free ride when it
comes to fishing, they often forget the work and expence involved
in owning a boat. It doesn't take long to clean and stow the gear
after a trip, and everyone has a good time. Yes then its miller
time! I don't mine a few brews while fishing but there is a time
    and place for everything.

Why don't we just put our list of salters in this note?

Concur!!! A list of sailors would be a great idea. I was in the
navy for ten years and among other things can stellar navigate and
handle some pretty good sized boats when required. Would love
to go for some deep water fish with anyone out of southern N.H.
(My boat's too small for anything but a VERY smooth day!!)

| | Me too...know nothing about handling trailers or boats larger than
14 foot dinghies, but always willing to learn. Can always pitch
in cleaning up the boat, packing in gear, etc. Available sporadically
    from April to November.

| | I would enjoy going deep sea fishing again. I don't know how
to handle a trailer. Yet. But I'll be learning shortly as my
father-in-law just purchased a boat and I'll be trailering it
for him. As far as handling gear, no problem. I've driven a few
boats. As for the wife she may or maynot be interested. Have to
    play that one by ear.

| | Both my wife and I enjoy deep sea fishing. I like to get out
at least once a year on an overnighter (as mentioned in an earlier
    note).

I've controlled boats from canoes to a 40'er with a large cat
diesel. I had my own boat which I use to take out of Sandy Hook
when I was in N.J. It was only a 15' center console but that's all
it takes to understand some considerable time and expense can go
into a boat and fishing trip. I have not trailered anything larger
than this but I don't expect I'd have much of a problem with it.
I also have a Toyota 4x4 with a trailer hitch if needed.
I am fairly familiar with the gear as far as bottom fishing
and trolling rigs are concerned. I'm decent with a gaff and consider
myself pretty good with a fillet knife (not fast, but good).

The only hard part is with 2 little ones I can't go on a moments
notice. Some prior notice may be needed to make baby sitting
arrangements (depending on whether or not there's room for the misses
    to tag along).

As mentioned earlier I know how expensive it can be to operate
and maintain a boat so I have no problem with splitting the gas/diesel
costs and helping out with the cleaning/operating chores.

BTW - I'm only about 35-40 minutes from Hampton, or Newburyport.

| | Have rod - will travel. The problem is I don't have a boat, but
I do have lots of experience on the water in both party boats and
smaller. If you're looking for an able and willing fishing partner,
give me a call. I also have a 19-year old son who is very energetic.
