    Being a NHerite, I personally can't help you much on your local 
    hotspots.  I've heard that the Nisitisit (sp?) offers fine trout 
    fishing around Pepperall Mass.  Look around in this file for notes
    on trout.  If your a fly fisherman, checkout MT_BLUE::FLYFISH. If
    your not a fly fisherman, check it out anyway, just don't let them
    catch ya!  If they find out your a metal chucker they'll blow up 
    your terminal! 8^) (just kidding, I know that alot of you guys from
    the "other" file read this one too!) 
                                    
    As far as the bass'n goes, I'm sure someone from Mass can help you

    Early spring Bassin get's mighty good on the MDC watershed called
    the  SUdbury Reservoir.  Go up route 9 from Shrewsbury a piece,
    and you can get into a 3 to 5 lb largemouth at many spots in the
    Sudbury.
    
    ALAS, I HOPE YOU FISH CATCH AND RELEASE.  AN BY THE WAY.....NEVER
    EAT ANY FISH YOU CATCH THERE.  IT'S AN INACTIVE RESERVOIR, SO IT'S
    NOT VERY HEALTHY WATER.....CLEAN, BUT QUESTIONABLY HEALTHY.
    
    Also, try and fish the Big and Little Chauncey ponds in Westboro.
    Good small mouth and pickeral fishing this time of year.
    
    If you like trout, head out RTE 2 west to Fitchburg, and you can
    fish Lake Whalom for 'stockies' (rainbow trout).  It's not very
    picturesque, (at the foot of Whalom Amusement Park), but the action
    can be good this time of year.
    
    If you're very adventurous, head for the Quabbin Reservoir.  They
    rent boats with motors, and you can tie into some 15lb lake trout
    in them thar waters!

    I know this sounds like I'm being a smart ass,  BUTTTTTT

    
    

    	Some of the things you mentioned in your note lead me to believe
    that Maine may offer some of the things that you are looking for. Of 
    course you won't be able to stop off on the way home from work but 
    if you could plan an extened trip or two into some of the more remote 
    areas of Maine I think that you would enjoy it. If you want good
    fishing, elbow room and a semi wild environment, then you should look 
    into Maine. There are many rivers where you can do some canoe camping/
    fishing for days without too much company. You can also venture
    through the lumber/paper companies' land in your 4WD and stop at many 
    small ponds and streams to fish. The most sought after fish are
    Landlocked Salmon, Trout, Atlantic Salmon and Togue (Lake Trout).
    There is also a good population of Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. The 
    state is so diverse I can't recommend any one particular area to try
    but there are various fishing maps offered by DeLorme Publishing
    Company P.O. Box 298 Freeport Maine 04032. The Appalachian Mountain
    Club also has a canoe guide to Northern New England that would give
    you info on canoeable streams and rivers. This should be available at 
    most major outfitter type sporting goods stores.

    The Sudbury Reservoir lies between Marlboro and Southboro (where
    else?)
    
    I personally have returned several bass over 4 lbs in the Marlboro
    segment of the Res.

    I totally agree that Maine has some of the best fishing and 'wild-
    country' available in the Northeast.  Many trips to them thar lands,
    and quite a bit of luck!  Be aware, though, that like most N.E.
    states; if you're fishing as an out-of-stater, bring plenty of cash!
    License fees are a might steep!

    Hey Lindsay,
    
    	I think they actualy have a season for it. I dont know when it
    starts. You can NOT put a boat on it. Shore fishing only. I have seen
    some nice fish taken out of there. An old fellow I know fishes there
    often. His opinion of the place is that the bass die of old age. A
    lot of people fish with live bait there. If your interested on how to

             The Sudbury river has not been stocked with trout
             for the past few years because of high Mercury 
             content.A definite for lunker Bass and pick just
             don't eat the fish.
