Have you folks ever heard of or used a "QUIL" float. I have read
about them and they sound like a good idea for minnow fishing.

The float you describe should be available from places like
finnysports, netcraft and reed tackle. Old timers used to make 'em
out of porcupine quills (which are exceptionally buoyant), and used
them to detect sensitive biting fish. The shape of the float is
long and narrow at both ends and tapered up toward the middle.

These type of "bobbers" are widely used in Europe as seen on Larry
Mckinnis a few months ago. When I was in Europe just befor deathworld
I Got a first hand picture. We should probably hear from our Eoropean
buddies re this. It's a very big deal over there. Literally millions
to chose from. And not cheap.
